Deep garnet colour with a rich warm bouquet of baked dark plums, blueberry, Chai spice, chocolate, vanilla bean and charred oak. This medium to full-bodied Merlot has soft yet drying tannins and flavours of juicy blueberry, black cherry, spice and oak. Black tea, cocoa powder, spicy oak and blackberry notes linger on the extra-dry finish. The wines were aged for 17 months in 100% French oak barrels. Minimal filtration before bottling, then allowed to age gracefully in bottle for one year before release. Serve with grilled medium-rare red meats; grilled lamb chops; leg of lamb; roasted pheasant, quail or duck; grilled Portobello mushrooms; 2 to 4-year-old Canadian cheddar and walnut breads.
